Five hundred organizations, and an unusually federal roster

More than 2,500 paid presentations, over 500 organizations, and 90 percent of them rebook him or refer him. Forty years working out of the Washington DC region explains why a communication speaker has this many federal agencies on the list.

What the engagements actually looked like

Not a logo list. Twelve specific rooms he has actually been in

A client name on its own does not tell you what was delivered. These twelve do: the format, the size of the room, and in a few cases what the organization said about it afterward.

Stratford University

Commencement address to 450 graduating students and 1,900 guests in the audience. A single keynote, built for a room that size and a moment that specific.

Bristol Myers Squibb

A keynote for interns on building rapport and relationships, aimed at people just starting a career rather than veterans of it.

Lexus

Multi-day workshops delivered across the USA for field representatives, repeated in multiple cities rather than a single one-off session.

U.S. Department of Energy

A two-day program, Communication for Leaders, built for people managing other people rather than a general audience session.

Lockheed Martin

An after-dinner keynote for the Business Management Division. Meeting Coordinator Amy Shannon wrote that Arnold kept the room engaged at 7:30 in the evening after a long work day and a full meal, which she called not an easy task.

Homeland Security

Winning Presentation Skills, delivered eight separate times for the agency rather than once, which is its own kind of evaluation.

National Institutes of Health

One-day programs and 1.5-day retreats, both formats used depending on the group and the goal.

NASA

Half-day sessions, built for a technical audience without diluting the material to fit the shorter format.

Pfizer

General sessions plus separate facilitation work for staff and for doctors, two different audiences inside the same client relationship.

Embassy of Australia

More than 20 sessions over time, the kind of repeat relationship that only happens when the first one goes well.

American College of Physicians

A three-hour presentation-skills workshop, built for physicians who present but are not professional presenters.

Chrysler Corporation

An all-day session for minority dealership owners, a business-development audience rather than a general staff one.

Why so many federal agencies

Forty years in the Washington DC region, and word travels inside government

Sanow Professional Development has been based in Vienna, Virginia since 1985, inside the same metro area as the agencies on the list above: the FBI, NASA, the National Institutes of Health, Homeland Security, and the Departments of Energy, the Treasury, Justice, Transportation and the Interior. Federal training offices talk to each other, and a program that works for one agency's leadership tends to get recommended to the next. That is a different sales channel than a corporate speaker relies on, and it is the reason the roster on this page reads the way it does. The same discipline that gets him rebooked by corporations, tailoring the material to the specific group before he shows up, is what keeps him coming back to government audiences that have very little patience for a generic session. In their own words

What these organizations said after the fact

Arnold was a big hit this week! He was full of energy, had great stories, related well to our group, and was funny. The group walked away with specific ways to connect with our customers. Thanks for making both of us look good!
Paula KennedyManager, Learning Development, Kaiser Permanente
Arnold, Just wanted to say a quick thank you for presenting to our team on Tuesday night. Everyone was still talking about it the next morning. You did a fabulous job engaging everyone and keeping the presentation interesting and useful… Not an easy task after a long work day, a full meal, and at 7:30 in the evening!
Amy ShannonMeeting Coordinator, Lockheed Martin
I can speak confidently for our entire group in saying that your delivery, pace, content, style, and especially the on-target videos and examples were just what we needed to accomplish our goal.
Karl ReedyDistrict Administrator, Virginia Department of Transportation
The comments were very positive as you reinforced listening and communication skills in a good interactive session. Many were pleased, and I thank you so much!
Nada AbilmonaProject Coordinator, FBI Academy

About the roster

What planners ask about the client list

Yes. The corporate and association groups on this page range from Fortune 500 companies like Lockheed Martin and Pfizer to associations and colleges. The federal roster is large because of where Arnold is based, not because it is the only audience he works with.

Arnold names his clients rather than reproducing their logos, since those marks belong to the organizations themselves. The named engagements above, with formats and audience sizes, are meant to give a fuller picture than a badge wall would.

Several of the named engagements above, including the Embassy of Australia and Homeland Security, are repeat bookings rather than single sessions, consistent with the more than 90 percent rebook-or-refer rate across his full client base.
